Throughout the years my Maui County Federal Credit Union ‘ohana has not only supported me, but my son as well – to learn and grow and be better people. During the middle of the pandemic, I was able to get a mortgage with Maui County FCU to help me purchase my first home. I never imagined that I could be a homeowner on my own at my age. With education and continuous encouragement, I was able to achieve my dream of owning my own home.
I grew up on Maui and attended Arizona State University. I started off pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture then decided to come back home. A friend referred me for a job at Maui County FCU as a Member Service Representative, which I got when I was 21 years old. I worked at Maui Marketplace for five years. I really enjoyed interacting with the members and co-workers, we had a lot of good times.
In 2014, I moved to the loan department as a Collections Officer where I learned a lot. Our Chief Lending Officer, Wes, showed me how to care for our members’ needs from the lending side. I got to see firsthand how we can help countless members, either get out of debt or save their house from foreclosure, where other lenders would not have helped. It takes time, effort, and willingness to look outside the box to make a huge impact on people’s financial wellness. Wes taught us to see the bigger picture, be kinder and more helpful. I am grateful to be able be a part of that processes. Because of my own experience with budgeting and being accountable with my money, I was able to share and help other members.
In 2018, I was promoted to a Loan Support Specialist. Throughout the years I have been able to learn so many different aspects of the loan process and to work cohesively as a team. I love that my job isn’t about booking loans, it’s about helping people to be in the best financial situation possible to achieve their dreams. I’m able to do this because of my own experience with Maui County FCU helping to make my dream of homeownership come true.
